According to the latest American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) “Procedural Statistics” data, the year-over-year number of blepharoplasty surgeries increased by 12% for men and 4% for women between 2022 and 2023.

If you’ve never heard of the plastic surgery procedure known as “otoplasty,” we’re not surprised, as it is one of the least frequently performed ones, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ latest procedural statistics report. However, for those who undergo the procedure, and in particular, children, it can be life-changing. We mention children with this surgery because otoplasty is one of the few plastic surgeries considered highly effective and beneficial for kids.

Chin augmentation might not come to mind if asked to name the top three most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries to enhance the facial area. And perhaps it shouldn’t, given that American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) data suggests that it comes in at eighth place among plastic surgeries performed above the shoulders. For the record, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, and facelift are the top three most frequently performed facial plastic surgeries.

When someone is described as unable to “see past the end of their nose,” it’s typically caused by their preoccupation with something that limits their ability to see the bigger picture. In some cases, their focus might center on the nose itself, especially in those experiencing chronic nasal issues or who have aesthetic concerns about the appearance of their nose, the most prominent feature of one’s face.
