Hi. I’m Dr. Bonett with Naples Plastic Surgery. Today we’re going to talk about a sensitive, but important topic: labioplasty. Labioplasty means reshaping the skin or folds around the vaginal opening. Excess skin or laxity of that area can happen for various reasons whether it’s just genetics or child birth or weight gain.
The reasons to pursue labiaplasty may be aesthetic or functional. Sometimes women don’t like the way it looks even in clothing or bathing suits. It can also have functional issues such as pain with intercourse or frequent UTIs. During a labiaplasty we remove the extra skin of the area and we reshape it for a better contour and to help you feel more comfortable.

Labiaplasty in Naples
Prior to the procedure, Dr. Leo Baccaro, Dr. Mark Walsh, and Dr. Andrew Bonett meet with their labiaplasty patient to first discuss any concerns and to create a personalized course of action for the procedure. This may include reduction of excess vaginal tissue and possibly hoodectomy, which is a vaginal rejuvenation procedure that removes excess skin covering the clitoris. The surgeon then thoroughly discusses the labiaplasty procedure with the patient and answers any questions she might have.
On the day of the surgery, the surgeon and his team prepare the patient for surgery and administer an anesthetic. After pre-operative preparations, the surgeon sculpts the vaginal lips through surgical extraction to ensure symmetry and to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Labia reduction surgery is performed on an outpatient basis in your doctor’s surgical suite, which features privacy and exclusivity: you will be the only patient in the surgery center at the time of your procedure. Dr Gardner is the BEST!

Dr. Gardner is simply masterful and a kind soul. He takes great pride in his work and has the experience and expertise to take initiative to achieve the best outcome for patients beyond expectation, often having to adapt to unexpected obstacles from patient history. Experiencing significant pain I went to see Dr. Gardner as a repeat patient, expecting a routine implant revision due to a failure of a fifteen year old reduction procedure. Instead, Dr. Gardner had to remove a significant growth and essentially rebuild the sins of the past into results that realistically were better than had ever presented in my youth, all with minimal incisions and recovery. This is the doctor you seek for exceptional cases and care – you are worth it. He is worthy. Special appreciation to his staff, all of whom genuinely take an interest and embody the values Dr. Gardner brings to the table.

Beyond helpful and kind
Dr Baccaro and his team went above and beyond for my breast augmentation surgery. From the consultation to every single post op appointment they were beyond helpful and kind.
I had my implants for 10 years and had significant loss in volume and was afraid I needed a lift but Dr Baccaro was able to give me the perfect new pair without a lift and I am beyond happy with the results. Besides that he also fixed my visible scarring that were left behind from the previous surgeon.

Very pleasant to work with
I am very happy with my experience with Naples plastic surgery and will definitely use them again in the future! I had breast implants that were 34 years old and I had them replaced by Dr Walsh. Believe it or not even after all that time one of the implants was still fully intact when he took it out, the other one had begun to show signs of gumminess from age. Hi, I’m Dr Baccaro, and I want to tell you a little bit about labiaplasty. So labiaplasty is a procedure in which excess labial mucosa can be reduced to improve comfort, improve self-consciousness, improve sexual function as well. So this happens because some women have a little bit of excess mucosa of their labia and it causes — a lot of times — friction with clothing, or friction when sitting down, riding a bicycle, or during sexual intercourse, and it causes discomfort in the long term. So that can actually be addressed with a short procedure called a labiaplasty.
So will a labiaplasty cause problems with sensitivity or sexual function? The short answer is no. You’re removing some excess mucosa, but you’re allowing the rest of that mucosa to heal, to maintain a healthy environment for healing, and so the nerve endings in that area stay healthy and will still function. In terms of sexual function in general there’s improvement of sexual function because you’re actually resolving some of the issues that were causing problems with sexual function before, so a very typical example is patients with excess labial mucosa have a lot of pain because the mucosa is somewhat dry but when you do a labiaplasty, you resolve those issues and the sexual function actually improves afterwards.
