Hi I’m Dr. Leo Barccaro and today I wanted to talk to you about the BBL, which is also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift. So a BBL is a procedure in which we commonly think of as augmenting the buttocks and that’s is. But that’s not entirely true what it really is, is a body contouring procedure in which we use Liposuction and Liposuction techniques to remove fat from certain areas of the body and place it around the buttocks and thighs to give it a more shapely appearance. So with the Liposuction, we take in areas of the waist or the flanks, and we can take that fat that is harvested and inject it around the buttocks and around the hips to give a more shapely hourglass appearance. I like to divide the BBL’s into two big categories, the kind of standard larger BBL and then what’s called the mini BBL. Some people have enough fat to really bring down a lot of volume from different parts of the body and really augment the buttocks and some people want that look of a very small waist and a very large buttocks. But I’d say most people want a little bit more of a natural look, which can also be achieved with the standard larger BBL. However there are some patients who do not have a lot of fat around the body and still want improvement around their torso shape and contouring, and in those patients we can offer a mini BBL in which less volume is used, however we get nice natural results, creating that hourglass appearance and creating that shapely waist to hip ratio.
